A Letter from Matt MacArthur and the John MacArthur Charitable Trust
Since my father entered heaven this July, I’ve been repeatedly amazed by the remarkable fruit of his ministry, which spread the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere (2 Cor 2:14). God used him to raise up a generation of expositors through The Master’s Seminary, disciple thousands of young people at The Master’s University, and spark a global movement of theologically sound churches and pastoral training centers through The Master’s Academy International—not to mention the countless lives transformed through his verse-by-verse teaching at Grace Community Church broadcast worldwide through Grace to You.
My dad’s far-reaching national and international impact was evident at his memorial service, where people traveled from around the world to praise the Lord for John MacArthur’s life and ministry. What struck me most was the profound simplicity of his influence. He didn’t pursue anything flashy or unprecedented. He simply taught the Bible with clarity and conviction week after week, in season and out of season, for over half a century (2 Tim 4:2). That was his life’s devotion which he held fast to until the last moment.
Saying goodbye to my father was incredibly difficult. He was an irreplaceable blessing to me and to so many. Yet amid the grief, it was uplifting and invigorating to witness how profoundly the Lord used him to change lives and to see the ministries he built continuing to flourish.
In 2025, millions visited the Grace to You website each month. The Master’s University welcomed one of its largest incoming classes ever, continuing to push its total enrollment higher than it’s ever been. (Today, over 20,000 alumni serve in more than 50 countries worldwide.) The Master’s Seminary trained 754 men for pastoral ministry, while The Master’s Academy International grew its reach, with 2,628 students and over 8,000 graduates influencing 1,778 churches globally. God’s Word was proclaimed. Souls came to Christ. Believers were discipled. The work pressed on.
I’m convinced the best days for the Trust’s family of ministries lie ahead. In a world that needs it more than ever, their commitment to sound teaching, rigorous training, faithful discipling, and passionate global missions remains vital.
Thank you for your steadfast support and partnership. You stood alongside my dad for years, and the Trust looks forward to continuing this journey with you into 2026 and all that God has in store.
Sincerely,
MATT MACARTHUR
